List Early and Often!
I'm still kind of in vacation mode and will be for the next few weeks as it feels like we are hauling through summer. I'm trying to make the most out of it - we only have so many "nice" days here in New England, you know! My little family and I will be embarking on another camping adventure in the next week, which means plenty of opportunity to discover new thrift shops along the way.
HOWEVER, I still have piles of vintage to list and adding to those piles isn't exactly what I need right now! Last week I shared my tips for keeping up with your shop while taking a vacation and lots of it had to do with prepping drafts. I'm constantly trying to find ways to speed up my listing process and having drafts on hand helps but it's not everything.
I notice that I tend to put off listing items that require a lot of research (hmmm, can't quite read that artist's signature or can't put a finger on value and yikes I'm afraid to list until I'm fairly confident that I'm not selling a masterpiece by accident), items that are difficult to photograph or stage (rounded with a reflection, anyone?), or items that are just blah (why did I buy it in the first place? Oh yah, because it was a dollar).
There's a huge pile of those such items (the dollar ones mostly) in my garage right now, waiting for my someday yard sale or collecting enough dust to be taken back to the thrift store.
My big advice for you today - list early and often. Do it while you're still excited about that item that caught your eye, the score that you proudly marched up to the register with and that you purchased using your hard earned money. Do it before it loses its luster and you have 100 of them piled up in a corner. JUST LIST IT.
When I saw that Etsy came out with their 2022 Holiday Trend Report today I yelled "TOO SOON!" then rage skimmed it. I'm setting it aside for a few days because I'm personally not ready to tackle it until August, which is holy crap, this Monday.
You probably don't know that with every trend report that Etsy publishes, I create my own cliffs notes version for the Mastermind Membership. I pull out all of the important sound bites and trending keywords and add them to our master SEO spreadsheet. It's just one of the many perks of being in the community. I do a lot of the boring work for you so you can focus on the good stuff. If that sounds appealing to you, then join us!
Until next week!
Happy selling!
“Caroline has changed my life as a vintage seller! I was doing pretty well on my own before I joined the Mastermind Group but after being a member for a year I feel so much more equipped to tackle my daily to-dos and the ups and downs involved with running your own vintage shop. I have leveled up to say the least! Our weekly meetings are the highlight of my week. I have grown to love these women, we motivate and encourage each other and I truly feel like I've found my people.
